Short program: the course will focus on introducing systematic conservation planning and demonstrating how to use Marxan to the design of networks Protected Areas under this approach. Marxan is a widely used spatial planning tool to help decision-making in a transparent and objective way. The course will pay especial attention to the application of Marxan to the design of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) with emphasis on connectivity issues.
